In a bid to empower Tibetan refugee students and provide them with transformative educational opportunities, the Department of Education, CTA, is thrilled to announce the availability of the Wasatch Academy Scholarship for Refugees, the fall 2024 admission. This prestigious scholarship, dedicated specifically to supporting two Tibetan refugee students, aims to pave the way for academic excellence and personal growth.

Details of the Scholarship
Wasatch Academy Scholarship for Refugees, nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Utah, USA, is committed to offering a comprehensive scholarship package covering tuition, room, and board, amounting to $74,000 annually for the entire high school duration, spanning Grades 9 through 12. While this scholarship generously covers major expenses, it’s important to note that students and their families will be responsible for additional costs, as customary in previous years.
Additional Costs Include:
- Flight ticket to the U.S.
- Transportation costs to and from the campus
- Classroom resource fee: $500
- Laundry fee: $200
- Transportation fee: $600
- Junior class fee (Grade 11 only): $900
- Senior class fee (Grade 12 only): $550
- Health insurance 2023-24 rate: $160.05/month
- Personal expenses such as a laptop, spending money, and fees for any recreational programs if opted for
- Accommodation during the school’s four scheduled breaks (Fall break, Thanksgiving break, Winter break, and Spring break)
Application Process:
Interested applicants must apply online through the provided link or by scanning the barcode, no later than 11:59 PM, March 17, 2024.

Eligibility criteria and required documents for application include:
- The applicant must be a Tibetan refugee student with a Green Book, and both the applicant and their parents’ Green Book contributions must be paid till March 2023.
- Completion of Class VIII in 2023 with a score of 75% and above.
- A scanned copy of a valid IC or IC receipt.
Selection Process:
- Eligible applicants will undergo a written test in Tibetan, English, and Mathematics, scheduled for April 2 and 3, 2024, conducted at respective Tibetan Settlement Offices. The final score distribution will allocate more weightage to Mathematics.
- The top six scorers will proceed to the final selection interview conducted by Wasatch Academy.
