Benefits and Duration
- Stipend and Allowances Value:
- Stipend: $34,400 per annum, tax-exempt (2024 rate)
- Relocation Allowance: $500 to $1,500 (for single to family) for students moving from interstate or overseas to study at Deakin University Australia
- International Students: Single Overseas Student Health Cover policy for the duration of the student visa
- Doctoral Degree Duration:
- Stipend: 3 years
- Tuition Fees Offset: 4 years
- Research Master Degree Duration:
- Stipend: 2 years
- Tuition Fees Offset: 2 years
Eligibility Criteria
- General Eligibility: Domestic or international students enrolled in an HDR course at Deakin University
- RTP Fees Offset Eligibility: Must not be receiving an equivalent award or scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees
- RTP or DUPRS Stipend Eligibility:
- Must not receive income from another source that exceeds 75% of the stipend rate, unless it is unrelated to the course of study or not for general living expenses

Selection Process
- Competitive Selection:
- Detailed in the ranking guidelines provided
- Recipients must be full-time on-campus students
- Applicant Requirements:
- Completion of at least four years of tertiary education studies
- Achievement of 80% grade or equivalent in the research component of prior studies, or an equivalent level of academic attainment based on previous study, relevant work experience, research publications, and other research involvement
- Meeting all other minimum entry requirements as specified in the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure. Further information is available on the research degree entry pathways page.
- Currently Enrolled HDR Students:
- Eligible to apply for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend
- Evaluated by the Faculty/Institute
- Applications not accepted from students who have completed more than 3 years of their doctoral course or 2 years of their master’s course (or part-time equivalent)
